How to connect or configure your domain with Blogger (Blogspot)

Do you want to connect your domain with Blogger? In this manual, we show you step by step how to configure your blog in Blogspot to connect it with your domain name and thus personalize the address or URL of your web page.

Step 1: Login to Blogger

If you didn't know, you can use your domain as a custom domain for a Blogger blog (Blogspot). As some configuration changes are required, you must be the owner of the blog or an administrator with sufficient permissions to make these changes. If this is the case, log in to Blogger with your username and password.

Step 2: Settings in Blogger

If you have more than one blog, select the blog you want to connect to your domain at the top left. If you have only one blog, in the menu on the left click directly on Settings - Basics. In the Publishing section, click + Configure a third-party URL for your blog.

In the field Configuration of third-party domains enter the domain you want to configure or connect to blog and click Save. In our example for this guide, we will use the domain "www.tukwaweb.tech". Remember to write the domain with www. The option "Do you want to use a host for the missing files?" You can leave it at "No" by default.

If you receive the alert " We could not verify your authority in this domain ", do not worry: it is normal and is part of the Blogger procedure. You will also see two DNS records CNAME type that we will configure in your control panel, similar to these:

www
ghs.google.com
aktx63nfm4yg
gv-doaqrzbfi4yhn4.dv.googlehosted.com

Take note of those records that appeared in your Blogger panel and open another window in your browser to continue the configuration in the domain Customer Zone.

Step 3: Connect your domain with Blogger

Access your Domain registrar Customer Zone and point your domain to google server. There, you can select the domain you wish to connect to your blogger website.

Then go to the DNS zone of the domain. [here is the user interface of hostinger, your domain registrar might be similar to this. Moreover, all of them follow the same steps and procedure]

When you get to the DNS zone page you will see a table with all the current DNS records of your domain. You will see the CNAME where you will point your domain to google server. All you have to do is to add the google configurations as in the picture below.

you need to add the google configurations to CNAME of your domain registrar

And click on the Apply button.

Blogger suggests waiting at least one hour for this DNS setting to be activated. Then it is necessary to repeat steps 1 and 2 of this manual.

Step 4: Connect Blogger with your already configured domain

Repeat steps 1 and 2 of this manual, retyping your domain including www. at the beginning. And click on Save, this time the alert " We could not verify your authority in this domain " should no longer appear.

Step 4: Connect Blogger with your already configured domain
Step 4: Connect Blogger with your already configured domain

And that's it! Now in the Blog address field, your domain name should appear along with the original address or URL of your blog in Blogspot and you will have completed the basic configuration to connect your domain to Blogger. You can now access your blog with your domain name and view it in your browser bar.

Step 5 (optional): Advanced redirection of your domain with www

By completing steps 1 to 4 of How to integrate your domain with Blogger, your domain already works with Blogger in the version with www. But if you want your domain to also work without putting www before the domain name, then you must do some additional advanced steps to configure your domain with Blogger in this way.

Repeat the instructions in Step 3 to Add Record, only this time you must add type A records instead of CNAME.

It is necessary to add four types A records in a similar way to when we add CNAME records, starting with this:

 Type: A
 Value: 216.239.32.21

And do the same with these three other IP addresses in the Value field :

 216.239.34.21
 216.239.36.21
 216.239.38.21

Step 5 (optional): Advanced redirection of your domain with www
Step 5 (optional): Advanced redirection of your domain with www
IMPORTANT. If before there was another type A record with the Name field with your exact domain name, delete it by clicking on the red X that appears to the right of the row corresponding to that record. But beware! That the Name field matches exactly and only with your domain name. If the Name field has a prefix or something else before the domain name, do not delete it.

To finish this additional configuration, go back to your Blogger panel. In the same section Publication - Blog address click on the " Edit. Then look for the Redirect box and activate it by clicking on it. And finally, click on Save. So your domain will work with your blog with both www and without www.
